The University of Hong Kong – Recruitment for Full-time Financial Research Associate

Who May Apply:
Science/engineering-background Python programmers who want more exposure on financial knowledge.

Responsibilities:
1. Complete data collection, data cleaning, algorithm design and programming
2. Complete other related goals

Job Benefits:
1. Full-time work for one year or more at The University of Hong Kong. Can apply for Hong Kong ID card and enjoy HK and HKU benefits. Can apply for HK Permanent Resident after 7 years.
2. RAs with excellent work can apply for 4-year program of finance PhD after a year of work. Living subsidies are about 200,000 HK dollars/year during PhD study, extra scholarships will be provided to outstanding RAs. HKU finance department ranks top 3 in Asia Pacific and top 30 worldwide. Recent PhD graduates were placed as assistant professors at leading universities such as CUHK, University of Warwick, The University of New South Wales (UNSW), Monash University, SJTU, and leading financial corporations.
3. Annual salary is roughly 150K – 200K HKD after tax, depending on qualifications and experience.
4. Selected candidates can choose to work in Shenzhen.

Necessary Requirement and Preferable Conditions:
1. Obtained or pursuing a master degree from a leading university, or master/PhD student with one year and more time to be absent from current curriculum. Science/engineering major like CS and EE is preferred.
2. Familiar with Python and popular packages such as os, pandas, datetime etc.
3. Experience in writing Python web crawler is preferred. Experience in machine learning, textual analysis, social network analysis is a plus.
4. Have good habits of code writing, comments, and technical documentation.
5. Familiar with Windows and Ubuntu operating system.
6. Strong interest in data analysis and can focus on data processing for a long time.
7. Must be cooperative, have good skills of multitasking.

8. Applicants with experience of financial projects is preferred. Applicants with experience of databases such as Compustat, CRSP and WRDS is preferred.
9. Applicants who are familiar with Matlab, SAS, R are preferred. Excellent English is much preferred. Application with the TOEFL results are preferred.
10. Mature applicants and applicants with industry work experience are preferred.

待遇：

2、工作優秀可申請在本系攻讀四年制金融學博士，期間生活費約每年20萬港幣左右，工作優異有額外獎學金，本校金融系科研排名亞太前三，全球前三十。近期博士畢業生就職在CUHK, University of Warwick, The University of New South Wales (UNSW), Monash University，上海交大等世界名校以及頂尖金融公司。
3、做研究助理期間稅後年薪约15-20萬港幣，視學歷及經驗而調整。
4、可以選擇工作地點在深圳。

2、熟練使用Python，熟悉os, pandas, pool, datetime等常用packages.
3、用Python寫過爬蟲者優先。有機器學習，文本分析，網絡分析等經驗者優先。
4、有規範化、標準化的代碼編寫習慣和良好的技術文檔習慣。
5、熟悉Windows及Ubuntu操作系統。
6、能長時間專註數據處理，有濃厚興趣。
7、有合作精神，能夠勝任multitasking的工作環境。
8、有金融項目開發經驗優先，熟悉Compustat, CRSP, WRDS等數據庫的申請者優先。
9、同時熟悉Matlab，SAS，R的申請者優先。英語優秀者優先，申请时附上托福成绩者优先。
11、性格成熟的申請者、有業界工作經驗者優先。
